Duterte warns of more blasts but vows 'day of reckoning' vs. Davao City bombers

President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday morning assured the public of justice being served in the case of the Davao City bombing that killed 14 and injured more than 70 others more than a week ago.

Duterte, however, refused to disclose any information as regards the police's investigation.

"I guarantee you, there will be a day of reckoning," Duterte said during a press conference at the Davao City International Airport early Saturday morning.

Duterte came from a trip to Laos, where he attended the ASEAN Summit, and to Indonesia, where he had a working visit.

"There will be more,  because of retaliation, reprisals, but there will be maybe more blasts. But, there will be a day of reckoning. Bantayan ninyo," he added.

PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa earlier this week announced that police have already identified the suspect in the explosion said to have been caused by an improvised explosive device.

He also adverted to possible involvement of some drug personalities from Central Mindanao.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, for her part, has asked for the replacement of the top military and police officials in the city.

"We are pursuing leads, (it's) too early to talk about it," Duterte said. — BAP/NB, GMA News
